The value people hold in a society cannot be overstated. In the bustle of our fast-paced, tech-savvy lives, it can be easy to miss those that stand behind the cutting-edge technology we find ourselves awestruck by. But this year, I wholly believe that we need to look beyond the immediate and turn our gazes to those who innovate, live, and learn in the future.
In the first few months of 2018, I’ve found myself keeping to this theme during my speaking engagements. So far this year, I’ve had the opportunity to stand as a panelist for the GCC Smart Government and City Customer Care Excellence Conference, a speaker at the Seaside Startup Summit, and a contributor to the GCC Human Resources Management Conference. In all three, I’ve taken on the topic of the future of jobs and considered how we need to change the way we think and work to suit the fast-changing business environment. It is no longer enough to content ourselves with following old career-centered “paths” or honing ultra-specific abilities, because the jobs we understand might be vastly different in a decade or two. Instead, we need to reset our business philosophies to prioritize agility and innovation, and foster leaders who will transform our workplaces rather than maintain them. This belief guides my work as a consultant for Sustain Leadership, where I help individuals, incubators, and companies foster entrepreneurs into transformational leaders who will be prepared to navigate our shifting business landscape with ease.
